The corned beef sandwich is the staple of a deli style restaurant. I did not like the corned beef here. I reminded me of the same stuff I get at the counter at Kroger. I was working on the west side and decided to stop in to Noah's on Michigan Avenue on Dearborn to treat my family to some fantastic corned beef sandwiches but i arrived a bit too late and it was closed. not wanting to disappoint, I decided to give NYD a try again, not having eaten there in years (for good reason as it turned out). I picked up some sandwiches with kraut and cole-slaw on the side. The server who took my order didn't quite understand why I wanted that stuff on the side but, I got it and at least my sandwiches didn't get soggy before I served them at home. The sandwiches were flat and the corned beef was sliced and slightly rubbery, not that tender. In fact, I couldn't get anyone at home to eat their sandwiches, especially after they were expecting Noah's.

Very good club sandwich and the portions are huge. The service is good and the pickles they have the tables are awesome. Great place for lunch.

What can I say about this place other than its awesome!!!! I have never had a bad meal here. If you go at peak times you will have to wait. The Reuben's are are great. If you are onion ring fan these are some of the best hand made rings you will find. The have great chili and outstanding salads. The best part that pushes this location over the top is the staff. They have a great wait staff and I hope mgmt recognizes how good they and the cooks are Tip: avoid the Clinton township location. It shares the same name but that is where the similarity ends.

I've been here in the past, but just for carry out and didn't think the employees were all that friendly so I didn't go back for a while. Decided to try again last night but dined in this time. We got there less than an hour before closing but no one made us feel rushed or like we were holding them up, which I appreciate since I have worked in the business and know how it is to have last minute diners. My sandwich (the New York rueben) was delicious! Corned beef and Swiss with coleslaw on yummy grilled rye. My uncle was going to make his own sandwich but the server suggested he get a club which was exactly what he wanted. They were quite busy considering how late it was but started to die out as it got closer to closing time. Very good food and great service, I'd go back to try it again.

This place is great! Great soups! I always get my sandwiches grilled. So good! I love the fact that they have chicken gravy as well as regular for those that don't eat red meat.

Truly the best deli around. Busy place, great service and delicious food. I've lived in the shores on and off my whole life and never been here. So I stopped and fell in love mmmmmm. Yma is a amazing waitress. She made me feel welcomed which the staff all really do.

I LOVE the giant corned beef sandwiches at NY Deli. They're always juicy and well-prepared. The rolls or bread is always fresh and the variety of soups are plentiful and delicious. The Dinty Moore is one of my favorites as I love coleslaw on my corned beef sandwich. New York Deli is known for their large sandwiches and fresh soups. If you love deli (and who doesn't?) you'll love NY Deli.

Only one handicap parking spot and it's not even van friendly??? Not Cool!!! I'm guessing this place is NOT Handicap Friendly if they don't even have good parking available for those in wheelchairs.

This restaurant has the best corned beef sandwiches that I have ever had. They put a very generous portion of beef on them too. You will not walk away hungry after eating here.

Always has a pretty good crowd especially at lunch time. Very good pastrami sandwich. I have tried their perch dinner as well and they use a very light batter on their fish. Service is generally quick and friendly. Can't go wrong with a crock full of pickles!

We've never been disappointed here. Good sandwiches- often enough to share if you order a salad or soup. The salads are always fresh and generous portions! My favorites are the Reuben sandwiches and any salad. We never leave hungry or lean in the wallet!

This isn't the fanciest restaurant, but there is a reason their inadequate parking is packed all the time, the food is really decent. I have eaten here tons of times and I cannot remember having a bad meal, their soups are spot on (try the cabbage chili or the split pea, both excellent) and the salads are large with big juicy strips of grilled chicken that is nearly impossible to finish, but thats okay because it actually tastes very good as leftovers. The burgers, sandwiches (try the pastrami) and dinners are all very good. Just avoid the Chicken Parmesan if you are a purist, its tasty but not exactly fancy. Service is excellent and the staff always seem friendly. Solid little local eatery.

With a blatant lack of deli's on the east side, it's easy to be biased toward, or away from any of them. However, I happen to think that this nyd fairs the best in the area considering. This may not boast any Kosher disclosures as it's neighbors to the west, but they do a pretty good job with what they have to work with. Their pastrami is good, their fried onion rings are better, and their beef barley soup is killer, but as with anything they have their faults too. I'd like to see the availability of a decent marble rye... which they lack, as well as some attention to their pickles, which seem as if they were simply pulled from a vlassic jar picked up at Gordon Foods last month. The service is good and the food comes out quick. However, parking can be chaotic during the early dinner & lunch hours as the area's vast gang of senior citizens invade as if someone spread a rumor indicating hot turkey sandwiches were free to the over sixty crowd. Overall, its not the Stage, or the Breadbasket, but it'll do the job... a better job than any other proclaimed deli's on the eastside.

They used to be soooo much better. That was before they rebuilt Little Mack. Now I think of this place a the blue hair deli, as in the place old people love. Nothing to spicy or hot (temp). Small sandwichs and nothing out of the ordinary. Soups are ok but taste like they come straight out of the can. If you want a good corned beef, go somewhere else.

I used to have an addiction to Reuben sandwiches I got from my mom. House of Reuben is good but they don't grill their rye. Rex's Kelly Deli uses large rye bread slices that are great grilled but some of their other stuff like potato salad has been hit or miss in the past. This is one of two New York Deli locations in my area I used to frequent and after not coming here for awhile I was in the mood for a good Rueben on grilled rye. The sandwich comes with pickle and a complimentary potato salad. The potato salad was light, creamy and sweet, I didn't like it until I paired it with their briney, vinegary, crunchy pickle and the sandwich. The sandwich itself is delicious with a mound of nice moist quality corned beef (it was thicker in the middle), I was only going to eat half but I couldn't stop. If memory serves the beef barley soup here rocks (my mom used to get quarts of this stuff.) The quality has always been pretty consistent at both locations. Cons: There was what I thought was a hair in the potato salad but it turned out to be a thread of some sort. I don't really think hairs or threads are big deals (it happens) but I thought I'd mention it. I read in a previous review someone mentioning they thought the prices were good but I beg to differ but sometimes you get what you pay for. Pepsi was a bit on the watery side. 3.75 Stars

We used to frequent this place when I was a kid. Remember when the pickles were in a crock on the table? YUM ... however this place is always a disappointment as of late. When you eat in, you feel rushed and when you carry out, the order is always wrong. Things are missing or they overcharge you because they gave you something you didn't even order. Based on experience, when you call to see if you can come back to get what is missing from your order, don't let them tell you that you can get a free salad or dessert at your next visit instead. When you try to collect on that offer, noone knows who you spoke to or what you are talking about.

One of the things I look for when I move to a new area is a great family restaurant. This one does not disappoint. I had the 1/2 Sandwich and Soup special with a Reuben and Beef Barley soup. Both were amazing. The corned beef was freshly cooked, thinly sliced and served warm. The soup was spiced perfectly and was hearty, warm and delicious. My dining companion had the open faced hot turkey sandwich. The mashed potatoes were home made, and the turkey was thinly sliced and not dry at all. For dessert, we shared a chocolate cream pie which can only be described as heavenly. It's not gourmet, but that's not why you go to a family-style restaurant. The service is fast and friendly, and the food is good. I will be going there again as it is a light in the middle of a dark, dull set of dining options.

I live about .5 miles away from the restaurant and considering there is a severe lack of good "delis" on the east side I have gone here many times when I'm in the mood for a Reuben. 1 star - Variety - tons of different standard deli sandwiches as well as a variety of other foods. 1 star - Location - Obviously, the restaurant is close to my house. It is also about .5 miles away from 94 and the 94/696 interchange. 1 star - Price - Affordable and you get a pretty good portion for the money. -1 star - Greasy food - everything seems to be drenched in oil. It tastes good but can wreck you if you're unprepared. -1 star - Service - every time I have been there the service has been fast but the servers have lacked friendliness. The clerk ringing me up each time at the front desk rarely cracks a smile.

Good food, reasonable prices. This is a great place to grab lunch, but be sure to go hungry, as the sandwiches are large as well as tasty. Two stand-outs are the Madison Square Garden Burger and the Italian Sub sandwich. Soups, yep, they have them too, always fresh and with a nice homemade taste.. They can be quite busy, at certain times, and they cooks and waitstaff keep up well with the rush. The place is always clean, the food is good, what's not to like?

Great deli food, but why I stop by regularly is the service. The staff is friendly, fast and dedicated to providing exceptional, personalized service. Yma, Lori, Amy and the rest of the staff are the best. The owner Mark runs a tight ship. The deli is clean. It is a very busy restaurant, but that is a good sign. Expect a small (5 or 10) wait during peak lunch hour.

I used to grab lunch at NY Deli with a friend for the two reasons that one grabs lunch: it was inexpensive and tasty! They bring out this handled ceramic bowl with sweet pickle chips regardless of what you order - like their version of chips and salsa. I find it hard not to stuff myself full of the free pickles before my actual food gets to the table! And the food is just great. They do the deli thing (not surprisingly), but do it extremely well. They have a number of sandwiches, some NY Style, some Chicago Style and a couple of purely Michigan inventions. I'd highly suggest any of their burgers (especially what I think is called "the Russian") or their French onion dip. They do have smoking, but it's limited to all of three tables. For smokers, seating is at a premium. For nons, those pesky smokers are still here! This is a place you can go to lunch and spend less than $10 per person, and walk out REALLY full. That always made me smile for some reason.
